HOTREG goes international on Thursday 12.3. from 13.00 to 16.00

Dear all,

Our next HOTREG seminar will be in Aalto School of Business on Thursday 12th March at 13.00. This time we are having many international visitors also as presenters.

The first paper is by Anna Tyllström & Stefan Jonsson on power in category formation.
The second paper is by Davide Ravasi on reputation & collective sensemaking.
The third paper is yet to be decided (could be you!).

Next HOTREG on October 9th at 13.00

For those interested in theory development, we have a special "Helsinki Organization Theory Research Group" seminar this October with theory focus. 

Our agenda consists of two papers with revise & resubmit from Academy of Management Review:

1. Marco Clemente (with Rodolphe Durand and Thomas Roulet) -- a paper offering historical perspective to institutional logics.
2. Henri Schildt (with Joep Cornelissen) -- a paper developing a reasoning-based typology of interpretative processes within sensemaking. 

The seminar will be held at the Arkadia building on Töölö on October 9th from 13.00 to 15.00. There will be coffee.

HOTREG on May 22nd at Hanken room 304 from 14.00 to 16.00

Dear colleagues,


We have a yet another interesting HOTREG seminar, on Thursday 22nd of May at 2pm. The seminar will be held at Hanken main building in room 304.

The two interesting and innovative papers to be presented are:


1. Sorsa, Virpi & Vaara, Eero: STRATEGIC PLANNING AS RHETORICAL WORK: HOW ARGUMENTATION IS USED TO BUILD UP COMMITMENT TO STRATEGIC CHANGE OVER TIME (with reviews from Strategic Management Journal).


2. Kuronen, Tuomas & Kiiskinen, Tuomo: Drugs, demons and deities: anthropomorphism as the condition of leadership (with reviews from Culture & Organization)

Hotreg on Tuesday March 18th, 1pm at Aalto School of Business

Dear All,

Our HOTREG seminar organised Tuesday, March 18th at 1pm in Töölö, Arkadia building room E-124. 

This time we have exciting papers on public opinion and glamour:   

• Marco Clemente (Aalto SCI) will present a revised version of his paper "Raising Voices in the Wilderness: Institutional “Rope-Pulling”, Public Opinion and the Spiral of Silence", which has R&R at Academy of Management Review.

• Astrid Huopalainen (Åbo Akademi) will present her paper "Manipulating surface and making effort appear effortless - on the production of glamour around the fashion show", which has just received R&R from Human Relations.

The papers and reviews will be available from me. If you plan to attend and haven't sent me an email (henri.schildt@aalto.fi) please do.I'll send you the papers on Friday (Marco is in the middle of a rewrite).

There will be coffee.

HOTREG in Otaniemi -- Feburary 13th 15-17

Hi everyone,

We are happy to confirm the first HOTREG meeting for year 2014! The session will be held at Aalto University at the Industrial Engineering and Management Department (TUTA) in Otaniemi February 13th, from 15.00 to 17.00.

The session will feature a paper by  Markku Maula (Aalto) and Yo Liu (Aalto), which recently received a revise & resubmit from Academy of Management Journal. This really existing paper focuses on the effects of different types of uncertainty and experience on the decision to partner in international ventures.

We are still looking for another paper to be presented at the seminar, and would encourage anyone who has received reviews for their paper from a journal and wishes to present to contact Robin (robin.gustafsson@aalto.fi).
